Remembrance Day 2019
We're proud to be supporting the Royal British Legion once again this Remembrance Day.
On a recent visit to RHS Rosemoor in Great Torrington, Devon I came across the incredibly beautiful and moving sculpture by local artist George Hider of the Unknown Soldier. The soldier stands alone in the beautiful gardens at Rosemoor and is a tribute to the peace that we enjoy today thanks to the sacrifice of so many in times of war and conflict.
In Flanders Fields
The poem by John McCrae
In Flanders' fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders' fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high, If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders' Fields.
The work of the Royal British Legion is as vital today as ever. The important fundraising of this incredible organisation supports not only serving and ex-serving personnel but the whole of the Armed Forces community, including their families. From expert recovery and rehabilitation to much-needed breaks away, The Royal British Legion works all year round to ensure the Armed Forces community can access any help they might need. Poppies come in all shapes and sizes. A range of poppy brooches and pins is available to order on the Royal British Legion website like the lovely Remember Together Lapel Pin below. Here at Helen Moore we have designed a pom pom poppy brooch to raise money for this amazing charity. All profits from the sale of our faux fur poppies are donated to the Royal British Legion. Since 2016 we have raised over £3, 500. Whatever style of poppy you choose to wear this Remembrance Day - wear it with pride.
