Charlotte & Stephen
A small wedding with a big heart. Luxury travel writer Charlotte and husband Stephen were married in March 2018 at the iconic Chelsea Town Hall with two of Charlotte's best friends as witnesses. Their photographer was Helen Jones. Charlotte wore an Opal faux fur Bolero.
Tell us about the big day:
A small, intimate registry office ceremony in London, and a lovely surprise lunch afterwards at The Savoy Hotel with close friends. The whole day was about having fun and celebrating our relationship. I’ve never been one of those girls who dreamed of a big wedding, and this suited us perfectly. We wanted something as stress-free as possible! Only a few people knew we were getting married on that day, so the “elopement” aspect of it added to the fun! What inspired the design and theme of the day?
There wasn’t a particular theme, although the time of year influenced my outfit, and the photography to some extent. We ended up being very lucky with the weather, as the “Beast from the East” seemed to abate for that one day! When did you start planning your dress and accessories?
Not really until about two months before! We got back from our Christmas and New Year holiday, and I realised we only had a few weeks to get a dress, suit for my husband, and hair and make up organised!Where did you get your dress?
I knew I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a bespoke or designer dress I would only wear once, so I researched the Great British High Street. I had in mind something simple but beautiful, that I could potentially wear again. There are quite a few brands who do lovely bridal dresses, but in the end I chose one from Monsoon. It was actually from a prior season, but they managed to procure one for me. I loved the colour of the beads on the bodice, and the fit was perfect. Why did you choose to wear faux fur?
Because we were getting married in March in the UK, I knew I would need a cover-up! I had in mind a cream or white faux fur shrug or jacket. I would obviously rather not wear real fur but it’s difficult to find faux fur that moves and feels like the real thing. Unfortunately, the first couple I ordered were poor quality, so I had to return them. I stumbled upon the Helen Moore Wedding Collection online during a desperate search a few days before the wedding!Did we help you in any way to make sure your faux fur accessories were perfect?
When I explained my tight timescale, you pulled out all the stops to get my faux furs to me in time for the wedding. I ordered two so that I could choose between them. Because we live in the Netherlands, I had to trust that you could get them delivered to the hotel in London the next day, which you did!Is there anything you would have changed or improve about our faux fur?
No. As soon as I saw and felt them I was amazed at the high quality, and how much they seem like real fur, but nicer. I ended up keeping both furs! The opal colour one matched my dress perfectly and was exactly what I was looking for. What have you done with your faux fur accessory since the big day?
I wear the ermine faux fur Jacket regularly for evening events and when travelling (see picture from Venice!) I wore it just a couple of weeks ago for our 1st anniversary at the Savoy in London. The faux furs immediately amp up the glamour and I love wearing them. You can follow Charlotte's beautiful adventures on her luxury and style blog:
