Angelica & Andrew's Scottish Winter Wedding
However, as you can see from the beautiful pictures, their traditional Scottish wedding was certainly worth the wait!
They held their ceremony at the beautiful St James' RC Church in St Andrews and reception at the Upper and Lower College Hall at St Andrews University. Stunning photography by story telling wedding photographer, Danielle Stewart.
Angelica wore a Helen Moore faux fur Cape in Ermine.
Tell us about the big day:
St Andrews is where we met and we always knew it was where we wanted to get married. The town is a special place to both of us. We were very lucky with the sunny weather on our wedding day in February - each day either side was raining! We had delayed the wedding by a year due to COVID, so we were really looking forward to the day finally happening.
What inspired the design and theme of your wedding?
We did not have a theme, we just kept to things we liked.
When did you start planning your dress and accessories? Where did you get your dress?
I was well prepared in advance! I picked and ordered my dress and shoes in February 2019, expecting to get married in February 2021. I had no idea at the time that I would have to wait another year to wear my dress. Suzanne and her team at Perfection Bridal in Cardiff were so helpful throughout the whole process from choosing a style I felt comfortable in to giving advice on how to store the dress.
Did you have to postpone or re schedule your wedding because of the Pandemic and did this influence any of your choices?
We did have to postpone our wedding by a year and fortunately we did not have any issues with our wedding suppliers rearranging.
How would you describe your wedding style? traditional, vintage, contemporary, relaxed?
We would say the style was traditional, but we also wanted guests to feel relaxed.
Why did you choose to wear faux fur? Did you choose faux fur because it went with your theme? Did we help you in any way to make sure your faux fur accessories were perfect?
I knew I wanted to wear a fur cover/cape as part of my outfit, especially to give some warmth in February in Scotland. After the wedding ceremony we walked from the church to the venue and I knew I would need something over my shoulders.
I found the ideal style from Helen Moore in December 2019. My mother ordered a few swatches to check the colours against my ivory dress and the Ermine Faux Fur Short Cape was ideal. It was very helpful to be able to check the colours because they do look a little different in real life. The length of the cape hit just above my waist which gave a lovely shape and I loved the swing effect of it.
Did you choose faux fur because it looks great in photos?
I did not consider this when I made my choice, but I noticed in the wedding photos afterwards that the faux fur looked lovely (almost like it was real fur)
Is there anything you would have changed or improved about our faux fur?
No, it was fabulous.
Have you worn your faux fur accessory again since your wedding day?
Not yet, but I certainly will find another opportunity.
Any suggestions for new styles you think other brides might like?
I was so happy to find a bridal cape that did not have sleeves or a hood or a collar. Most styles online seemed to feature one of these or they were too long so would hide the shape of the dress underneath. The satin material in the lining was lovely as well because it was soft against my arms and shoulders. This cape was ideal and I hope you continue to produce it for future brides.
Congratulations Angelica & Andrew!
